“ a songstress like her comes along once or twice in a generation.” — Archie Fisher

Niamh Parsons has come to be known as one of the most distinctive voices in Irish music. Vocally compared to Dolores Keane and June Tabor, she is admired for her haunting sound and strong sense of story. Niamh is accompanied by virtuoso guitarist Graham Dunne.

About Niamh Parsons

Praised by the Boston Herald as “emotionally haunting” and “clear as crystal,” Niamh has released nine acclaimed albums and built a treasured repertoire drawn from both traditional sources and contemporary songwriters.

Raised in Dublin by music‑loving parents, she grew up immersed in the vibrant folk scene of The Old Shieling Hotel, absorbing songs from artists such as The Johnstons, Sweeney’s Men, and Dolly McMahon. A lifelong collector of songs, Niamh sees herself as a “carrier of tradition,” always seeking out material that speaks to her.

Her career has taken her to major festivals on both sides of the Atlantic and into collaborations with a wide range of artists. She has performed with the traditional band Arcady, appeared before President Clinton and Taoiseach Bertie Ahern on Capitol Hill, joined Grammy winner Paul Winter for concerts in New York, and sung on A Prairie Home Companion during its live broadcast from Dublin.
