29th Annual Seattle Stand-Up Comedy Competition |
Saturday, November 15
7:30 pm
Columbia Theatre
Note: Adult content, not suitable for children.
Ticket prices: $20 general admission
This event returns to the Columbia stage for its fourth year. The competition is not only a laugh-a-minute, it’s a white-knuckle challenge for every comic who’s ever dreamed of making it. The format is simple: 16 comic hopefuls square off at each venue, with judges deciding who’s out and who goes on! It’s a fun evening where anything goes.

| The Columbia Theatre is one of 19 venues in Oregon and Washington that host one of the preliminary competitions each fall. In 2007, more than 6,000 people attended 23 performances, with the Finals taking place at the Comedy Underground Club in Seattle. |

The 2007 Winner of the 28th Annual Seattle International Stand-Up Comedy Competition was Salt Lake City resident Marcus—or the artist formerly known as "Marcus the Man of 1000 Voices.” A perpetual motion machine of a performer, the former rock musician integrated vocal impressions, singing and dance into his shows, which pleased audiences and judges night after night. Although Marcus did not perform at the Columbia Theatre competition, three of the top five finalists appeared on our stage: Key Lewis, Geoff Lott and Leif Skyving. All the more reason to attend this year’s performance. The person you cheer may go on to the finals and appear one day on The Tonight Show!
The Seattle Stand-Up Comedy Competition is a touring comedy festival/elimination contest, now in its 29th year. Hundreds of comedians audition each year. Only 32 are chosen to compete. This year’s competition will include comics from Chicago, Alabama and Canada, as well as performers from Seattle's hot comedy scene.
