''FROGZ! is that rare theatrical event: family-friendly entertainment that is actually friendly to everyone in the family. Neither too preachy for the youngsters nor too pandering for the adults, Imago Theatre's lively, varied program of genuinely inventive theatrics provides nearly two hours of true aesthetic pleasure and truly goofy fun.”
- The Boston Globe
“The pale green and yellow frogs are back, squatting unblinking on the stage before beginning to hop and jump. So are the huge alligators with their red eyes that glow fiercely in the dark, along with the cat in the enormous bag and the phosphorescent strings. The penguins have returned, too, to play their not entirely sporting but nevertheless funny game of musical chairs.”

Imago Theatre’s original and inspired production of Frogz! returns for another engagement with many “new” vignettes in-tow. Larger-than-life-size penguins, frogs, alligators, lizards, paper bags and other inanimate objects take on human characteristics, the result being a madcap revue of illusion, inspired comedy and fun. |

| The creators of FROGZ! are Carol Triffle and Jerry Mouawad, Artistic Directors of Imago Theatre in Portland. FROGZ! with its acrobatic cast of five in assorted guises presents swift vignettes that combine skillful acrobatics, creativity and high jinks that provoke laughter and “recognition” of our all too human foibles. |

It will turn the most upstanding adult to a child again, responding with laughter, applause, awe and intermittent cheers. The Boston Globe observed, “It's unfortunately rare in our culture to come across work that is both intellectually challenging and truly entertaining; Imago reminds us that the combination is not only possible but essential -- and does it in a way that lets even a child get the idea, laughing all the way.”
Carol Triffle and Jerry Mouawad trained in the methods of theater master Jacques Lecoq with influences from Robert Wilson, Richard Foreman, Alain Platel and Trisha Brown. They have created a company that is one of the most innovative theatres in the United States. Imago Theatre began in 1979 performing exclusively mask theater in small communities around the Northwest, and has progressed toward creating and staging experimental works, original text works and contemporary adaptations of classics. |
